Born in Rivière-Verte, Yvonne was the daughter of Lévite Lavoie and Alice Clavette. She studied at the Academy of Hôtel-Dieu in Saint-Basile from 1924 to 1928 and was the first student to complete the eleventh grade. Her aunt, Sister Claudia Lavoie was her teacher. Then, Yvonne went to the Normal School in Fredericton and became a teacher like her four sisters. She married Lucien S. Beaulieu of Drummond, and the couple had ten girls and two boys. All the girls became teachers and had studied for at least one or two years at the Academy of Hôtel-Dieu or Collège Maillet in Saint-Basile. Photo as a graduate at Normal School in 1929.
