Dog race in Saint-Basile (am_1698)

Organised by Adjutor Bélanger and René Hudon, the first dog race or derby for the region took place during the winter of 1936. The starting point was at the post office in Edmundston and the race ended in Saint-Basile. The winner established a record of 20 minutes and 3 seconds. In 1942, a dozen participants enrolled in the dog race in Saint-Basile. Photo in 1942.
