Monastery in 1910 (ph_1889)

Since the number of Sisters and children in the boarding schools boarders was increasing steadily, it had became a necessity to construct a monastery for the sisters. This wing built from 1906 to 1910, forming a vertical line of a T, contained the Sisters quarters, consisting of a kitchen and a refectory, community hall and offices, infirmary, linen and sewing rooms, bedrooms and dormitories for the sisters. It was called a monastery since the Sisters were cloistered until 1946. Photo taken from the west side of Hôtel-Dieu around 1910.
