Sister Alice Landry (1898-1938) (ph_817)

Daughter of Hughes Landry and Gertrude Comeau, Alice was born in Caraquet. When her father died, she was nine years old and lived at the boarding school of the Sisters of the Notre Dame Congregation. In 1927, she received her diploma from the School of nursing at the General Hospital of the Grey Nuns in Sherbrooke. Then, she worked in New York and at the Hôtel-Dieu of Campbellton, before entering the Religious Hospitallers of Saint-Basile in 1932. She worked with children and taught the servants. She died of cancer at the age of fourty.
