Sister Marie McIntyre (1913-1988) (ph_1749)

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Marie was raised in Outremont, Montreal. After her mother’s death, being the eldest Marie took care of her sisters Patricia and Constance and also her little brother Norton, who was a diabetic. Then, their maternal grand-mother Sweeney placed them in Saint-Basile because the orphanage took both boys and girls. Also, the hospital was close for Norton. The boy died in 1929 and, the following year, Marie became a nun. On July 28, 1931, the day she took the veil, Marie wore a bridal gown as it was the custom. She is seen on the balcony of the monastery.
