Stanislas Dionne, prêtre (1921-2013) (ph_4010)

Son of Paul E. Dionne and Georgiana Lebel of Grand Isle, Maine, Stanislas was the nephew of Sister Anne-Marie Dionne at Hôtel-Dieu of Saint-Basile. Stanislas was ten years old when he became a boarder in Saint-Basile and left at thirteen. His lovely voice earned him the title of Petit chanteur de Saint-Basile. In 1934, he went to Sacré-Coeur College in Bathurst, as beneficiary of an I. N. Dumont scholarship. After, he studied theology at the Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax and was ordained priest in 1947 at Sainte-Anne of Madawaska by Bishop Marie-Antoine Roy. After having been curate and chaplain at diverse places, he was named parish priest in Alcida, then at Lagacéville and had a church built at Lavillette. He was parish priest of Sheila for fourteen years. There, he had an arena built. In 1982, he was transferred to Grand-Anse and in 1993, he retired in Tracadie-Sheila. Father Dionne then published his autobiography under the title Un prêtre pas comme les autres. Photo as a graduate from Sacré-Coeur College in 1943.
