Rino Albert (1921-2005) (ph_4042)

Born in Saint-Hilaire, Rino was the son of Antoine Albert and Yvonne Collin, the grandson of Maxime and the nephew of Sister Éva Albert (Saint-Antoine). His father died in a fire when he was hardly two years old. He had two sisters, Carmen and Antoinette. In 1934-1935, Rino was a boarding school student at the Hôtel-Dieu Academy in Saint-Basile. He then enrolled at Saint-Joseph College in Memramcook and later at the Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax. In 1946, he was ordained priest in his native parish by Bishop Marie-Antoine Roy. Father Albert was chaplain of Hôtel-Dieu in Edmundston, Chancellor of the diocese of Edmundston, parish priest of Saint-Georges in Grand Falls, of Saint-Basile and Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur in Edmundston. Father Albert retired at the Villa Desjardins in Edmundston and died on October 24, 2005. Photo taken around 1952.
