Saint-Joseph Ward in 1916 (ph_2581)

Behind the patient in the wheelchair, from left to right, the orderly Joseph Guimond, Doctors Adolphe Guy and Émile Simard. There was always an orderly on duty for the men. The women’s needs were met by the Sisters and nursing personnel. Taking turns, two Sisters did the night watch. Even before electricity, a telephone was available around 1898 to facilitate communications with the doctors and the priests in case of emergency.
