Born at Verchères, Quebec, Doctor P.-C. Laporte received his medical degree from Laval University in 1909. He married Marthe Violette in 1910 and lived in Connors and then in Clair in the northern part of Madawaska. He had a hospital constructed with a surgery room, four wards of ten beds each and other services. Nurses were trained there. In 1928, the hospital became the property of the Red Cross Society. Unfortunately, it burned down in 1931. Doctor Laporte was very much involved in the milieu. For example, he was part of a delegation which asked Ottawa to build an international bridge between Clair and Fort Kent.
