Jean-Baptiste Doucet (1882-1966) (ph_3631)

Second chaplain at Hôtel-Dieu in Saint-Basile, Father Doucet remained there from 1930 to 1938. Born in West Bathurst, Father Doucet studied at the College in Caraquet and at the Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax. In 1909, he was ordained priest by Bishop Barry from Chatham. His ministry work was varied. He was curate then parish priest in Kent county, chaplain at Hôtel-Dieu in Tracadie, chancellor of the diocese of Chatham and parish priest in Tracadie. The title Apostolic Protonotary was bestowed on him in 1943. Msgr. Doucet was vicar general for Bishop C.A. LeBlanc in Bathurst.
