Born at Saint-Antoine de Chambly, Quebec, Marie Rose went to the United States when she was young to work in a factory. She took care of the parish priest so well that he advised her to become a religious hospitaller in Montreal. Marie-Rose entered the Mother House in 1877, but was transferred to Saint Basile the following year as a lay sister. Her good health and devotion allowed her to accomplish numerous and diversified manual tasks. Photo taken around 1915.
