Délia Cyr, known as Sister Guy (1882-1950) (ph_3494)

Délia was born in St-Hilaire. She was a boarder in Saint-Basile Academy and later attended Normal School in Fredericton. After several years of teaching, she joined the community of Hôtel-Dieu in 1902. She went to Chatham for studies and came back with the Superior diploma in teaching. Sister Guy was the school Principal and prepared the students for entrance exams at the Normal School. As Superior of her community between 1925 and 1931, she had the interior of the Chapel completed, a laundry room built and central heating installed. Photo taken in 1922.
