Sanatorium and Hôtel-Dieu of Saint-Basile (am_1756)

This aerial view shows a general idea of the properties and undertakings of the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph in Saint-Basile around 1950. To the left, the Sanatorium opened in 1946 with a capacity of 100 beds to take care of people afflicted with pulmonary tuberculosis. The convent contains then, in the left wing, a home for the aged and handicapped; a monastery for the Sisters in the wing extending towards the mountain, and to the right, the Hôtel-Dieu Academy and Maillet College. At the back, the barn and the outbuildings. Photo taken around 1950.
