As there was not enough room in the brick convent, this wooden house was built in 1902 to serve as a school and boarding school for boys. The classes of the younger pupils were combined and located on the first floor. The Academy of Hôtel-Dieu also served as a public school and three classes were paid by the School Board. A recreation room for the boys and a theatre room were located on the second floor. The boys dormitories were on the third floor.
