Irène Godbout (1909-1997) (ph_4063)

Cousin of the three Sisters Godbout, Irène was the third child of Onésime Godbout and Estelle Plourde of Drummond. Irène was a boarder at the Academy of Hôtel-Dieu in Saint-Basile from 1925 to 1927. She studied at Normal School in Fredericton and taught for some time. Then, in 1933, she entered the Convent of the Ursulines in Rimouski and she taught there until 1956. After spending many years in Maillardville, she was appointed to Amqui in 1968. Finally in 1985, she returned to Rimouski where she stayed for the rest of her life.
