Margaret McCormack (1878-1963) (am_2330)

In 1899, Margaret who was of Irish origins married Clarence W. Rideout (1876-1963), a young man of English origins and a member of the Baptist Church. He became Catholic in order to marry Margaret. Clarence was the owner of several acres of land. He cultivated and exported seed and table potatoes. Margaret and Clarence had seven children: Monica (married to Roy Cavanaugh), Edith (Laurence Gillespie), Hubert (Mary Boyde) and Frances (William Bridgeo), Margaret (Carl Gorman). Gladys, who was the third of the family, and Ferne, the fifth, became Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph in Chatham, New Brunswick. Photo around 1899. Lent by Sr. Ferne Rideout.
