Irénée Bouchard (1907-1969) (am_1291)

Son of Louis Bouchard and Marie Nadeau, Irénée was born in Baker Lake. He studied at Bathurst College and the Holy Heart Seminary in Halifax. He was ordained a priest in Bathurst by Bishop P. A. Chiasson in 1934. He was the curate in Drummond for one year then in Saint-Léonard until 1944. Finally he was parish priest of Val d’Amour and built churches at Saint-Arthur and Val d’Amour. In 1953, Father Bouchard became parish priest at Beresford where he had a church constructed. Photo taken around 1950.
