Notre-Dame School (am_226)

Notre-Dame School located on Martin Street in Edmundston East, opened its doors in 1940. The parish priest Pichette had asked the Filles de Marie-de-l’Assomption to come there. From September 1940, three Sisters taught there: Sister Rose-Marie, Sister Marie Ste-Cécile and Sister Marie-Ste-Lucille. In 1949, the Principal was Hyacinthe Leblanc and there were seventeen teachers for 537 students enrolled in the primary grades. Photo around 1945.
