View of Edmundston around 1950 (am_182)

In the middle of the twentieth century, the city of Edmundston had greatly expanded. In the foreground of the photo, Hôtel-Dieu St-Joseph which was built in 1946; in the centre, the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, the International Bridge and on the other side of the St. John River, the town of Madawaska, Maine. Its main industry was the Frasers Paper Mill, where the pulp coming from Edmundston was transformed into cardboard and paper. Photo taken around 1950. R. Michaud & R. Picard.
